“The Vision Unfolds”
And the Lord answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.
For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry. Habakkuk 2:2-3
The Deliverance Church of God began in the living room of Pastor and First Lady Carmichael on November 2, 1997. With six souls for Jesus present, we held our first worship service. The congregation increased and the need arose to accommodate the now fourteen members. Pastor began the search and we fellowshipped at The Hilton University until we found a building located at2809 West Sugar Creek Road, we held our first service on December 13, 1998. We were able to witness to the patrons as they shopped near our church. Our congregation was able to minister to the elderly in an assisted living facility, and pursued countless other expressions of love and evangelism. The church theme rang out loud and clear, “We Are Winning Souls for Jesus.” Our scripture focus remained: “Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we received mercy, we faint not; but if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: 2 Corinthians 4:1,3
During this time the Lord allowed Pastor and First Lady Carmichael to purchase land for the building of a future church, but during this time we held services at The Comfort Suites. While there the lives of many were touched including the hotel guests and staff who had so much admiration for our Pastor and First Lady. One of the hotel employees would often bake treats for the young people in the congregation. After using this room for quite a while, the hotel temporarily allowed another group to hold an event there. We then started holding services at The Hilton University for it was an ideal location for the accommodations we needed. This time the stay was much longer than the first, but we were allowed to fellowship with people from around the world. They were often drawn to the services from hearing us praising God, hearing the musicians play, or hearing the Word of God being brought forth. As the years went by we noticed a decrease in other churches holding services there. Our pastor was approached by hotel management on an increase in weekly rates. It suddenly became clear that God was about to break forth into even more abundant blessings for us.
God allowed our Pastor to find favor with a team of people who were instrumental in acquiring a loan for the church. The journey was long and tedious, but it was worth the wait. Our Pastor attended many meetings in preparation for the building process. During this time we held services at “The Greenville Center” until the church was completed. Our Pastor would journey back and forth to Columbia, SC to accompany his sister at doctor’s appointments, maintain a balanced home life with his family, and still oversee the daily building project. God has given us the best, and we praise God for our First Family.
Our 2006 vision “The Year of Great Favor, Celebration, and Rejoicing.”
Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice. Phillippians 4:4
This helped us to remain mindful as to what we would be required to do in order to obtain all that God had for us. God blessed with a new sanctuary and a church bus. WOW!!!!
The bible says: “For the vision is for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry. We have now arrived at 4312 Lake Road where the vision is continuing to unfold as we anticipate the addition of a Fellowship Hall and further expansion.
God is Faithful!! God is AWESOME!!
We celebrate this great vision!!!!!!
